Short-Term Study

In this section, you will find information on short-term study in the US. Short-term study programmes may last for a summer, semester or entire academic year and allow UK students to study in the US without the obligation of completing a full degree programme. Short-term programmes are available at all levels, from school to postdoctoral level and can be an opportunity to see if you want to pursue longer-term study in the US.

Short-term programmes allow students the flexibility to fit study in the US around their coursework in the UK. Many UK universities offer 'sandwich course' options that allow students to study abroad during the second or third year.

Short-term programmes may also be a good option for students with limited financial resources. Often, current university students pay a tuition rate set by their UK university, which may be less than the rate of tuition that would be charged to a US student.

In this section, you will also find information about undergraduate-level programmes including university-sponsored exchange programmes, applying directly to US universities as a non-degree seeking or visiting student and government or private exchange programmes. Information on opportunities for postgraduate/postdoctoral study and research is also available.
