US Universities Abroad

Did you know it is possible to obtain a graduate degree following a US curriculum at an institution located outside the US? Many US universities have overseas campuses, and other foreign institutions and universities may be accredited to award US degrees.

As you research US universities abroad, you may wish to use the guidelines and resources for choosing a degree program in the graduate study section of this website. We recommend you pay careful attention to whether the institution is accredited. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) website maintains a database of accredited US universities.

The timeline and process for applying for a US university abroad is generally similar to that of applying to a US university. However, some universities may or may not require admissions exam scores, and some may have later application deadlines. For more details, please consult the universities’ websites.

Funding options will also be similar to studying in the US. Please note that unless the institution is also accredited in the UK, you will not be able to use a student loan from the UK government to fund your studies. Consult the DIUS website for a list of accredited UK universities.
