The Fulbright Commission Roehampton University London Summer Institute is a five-week cultural and academic programme for students held at Roehampton University in London in the UK. Participants in this programme will get the opportunity to:

This year’s institute will take place from 27 June – 29 July 2010. For more details about the programme please click here.

Award Benefits

The Summer Institute will cover the majority of the participant costs.  This includes round-trip airfare from the US to the UK, tuition and fees at the Host University, accommodation and social programme, subsistence costs and visa processing. Participants are expected to pay for their own medical, travel and contents insurance to cover en route and in-project dates.

Participants will be housed in their host university’s self catering residence halls. Accommodation is organised by flats. Each flat typically has six bedrooms sharing a communal lounge/kitchen and two shower units and two toilets. In addition, participants will visit cultural and historical sites and other places of interest to learn more about the UK and its history. These visits will complement academic activities and showcase the roles that various organisations and institutions play in the community. Group travel outside of the university area to other cities and regions will include visits to London and the Houses of Parliament. There is also potential for a day-trip to Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the administrative centre of the European Union.

Special Programmes do not preclude participants from applying for a Fulbright Award later in their academic career.
