Coventry University

Coventry is a dynamic, enterprising and creative University. It has a proud tradition as a provider of high quality education and a focus for multidisciplinary research. The University has an established academic presence regionally, nationally and internationally, and takes great care in providing a supportive environment for all its students.

The academic profile of the institution comprises three Faculties and two Schools:

Coventry’s student population comprises a diverse mix of ages, backgrounds and cultures studying a range of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The University prides itself on the exciting and vibrant campus that this mix brings.

CUE Ltd focuses on innovation, design, high performance automotive engineering, health, environment and ICT at a regional, national, European and international level. We have developed a number of specialist research institutes based at the University’s Technology Park including the Institute for Creative Enterprise, the Serious Games Institute, and the Health Design and Technology Institute.

Fast Facts

• The University’s roots can be traced as far back as 1843 to the Coventry College of Design. Since achieving University status in 1992, those foundations have been strengthened, through diversification into new and innovative areas of industry growth.
• Coventry University has some 17,000 students in total including more than 2000 international students from more than 90 different countries.
• Over £160m is being invested in the campus over the next 5 years. This includes the construction of a new Student Enterprise Centre and a new purpose-built home for the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.
• The university was one of a handful chosen in 2005 to host three national centres of excellence in teaching and learning in health, design and mathematics
• Coventry University is a ‘business-facing’ university, with excellent links with industry.
• The University’s Department of Industrial Design won both the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for its work in Automotive Design and the Sir Misha Black Award for Innovation in Design Education.

Life in Coventry

Coventry City embraces the themes of reinvention and innovation. The University lies in the heart of the city and its buildings are as much a part of the landscape as the distinctive Cathedral spires. Coventry’s City-centre, has over 1000 years of history, ranging from the medieval charm of historic streets to the architectural innovation of Millennium Place. Coventry Transport Museum attracts thousands of visitors to the city each year. By day, Coventry is a great place to shop, eat, drink and relax while, at night, it transforms into a buzzing, vibrant centre with bars and clubs to keep you entertained through to the small hours.

Coventry is a gateway to some of the most historic, cultural and scenic areas of the UK, including the peace and beauty of the Warwickshire countryside as well as Royal Leamington Spa, the castles of Kenilworth and Warwick and Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon attracting people from all over the world.
