Arts and Culture

London has always been famous for its arts and culture and many local venues offer cheaper rates to students.

London's West End offers a wide range of shows and discounted tickets for students. Locally, Sadler's Wells, the Barbican and the Almeida Theatre are some of the major centres for the arts in London.

A short tube ride away is the Southbank Centre, the largest single-run arts centre in the world, consisting of the Royal Festival Hall, the Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Saison Poetry Library.

The Southbank Centre's wide-ranging programme includes classical and world music, rock and pop, jazz, dance, literature and the visual arts.  On a 21 acre site with shops, restaurants and bars, it attracts the most diverse audience of any UK venue.

Situated on the south bank of the River Thames next to the popular London Eye, the Southbank Centre is part of a larger arts quarter which also includes the Royal National Theatre, the National Film Theatre, Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe.

Cinema
Islington's 'Screen on the Green' is one of London's finest art-house cinemas, showing classic and alternative cinema for real movie fans. The Barbican, which is a five minute walk away from Cass, means students can watch new releases and world cinema at the Barbican. Every October, the London Film Festival showcases premieres and the best new cinema from every continent.
