Academic Strengths
The latest independent assessment of research quality in the UK (RAE) shows that world-leading research is being undertaken throughout Cardiff University. The RAE 2008 reveals that 33 out of 34 subject areas evaluated are undertaking research that is world-class in terms of originality and significance. Cardiff University is also a member of the prestigious Russell Group, formed by the UK’s top 20 research universities, and attracts over £100 million in investment each year. In 2007, Professor Sir Martin Evans of the School of Biosciences was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine for ground-breaking discoveries in the field of stem cell research.

All single international students entering through the normal admissions cycle are guaranteed a place in University accommodation throughout the duration of their degrees.
