Grants are offered to EU citizens to undertake lecturing, study and/or research on European Union affairs, European integration or EU-US relations for periods of three to ten months at a US institution.
Grants for University Lecturing: Approximately two to four one-semester awards for post-doctoral lecturing on EU affairs, US-EU relations, integration and/or political economy at a selected US university will be granted. Successful candidates will be placed in an appropriate institution. Detailed information on the US universities requesting a EU Scholar-in-Residence is available in December of each year from the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Grants for Graduate Study, Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Research: Eleven to thirteen awards for research and/or post-graduate study on EU affairs or US-EU relations at an accredited US university or independent research centre will be granted.
Grants typically include a monthly stipend of €3,000, plus a lump sum of €2,000 for round-trip air transportation and relocation costs (up to a maximum of €30,000 per grantee). Benefits also include health insurance, visa processing and participation in a number of Fulbright Scholar events.
Minimum eligibility for this award category:
