Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)
Many US business or management-related programmes require that applicants take the GMAT as part of the application process.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
The GRE is often an admissions requirement for many US humanities, arts or sciences programmes.

Law Schools Admission Test (LSAT)
Most US law schools require that applicants take the LSAT as part of the application process to the Jurisdoctor Degree (JD), the professional US law degree.

Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
Most US medical schools require that applicants take the MCAT as part of the application process to the MD programme, the professional US medical degree.

English Language Test

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
IELTS is designed to assess the English language ability of people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication. Over 1,200 U.S. universities and colleges accept IELTS as proof of English language proficiency of non-native English speakers as part of the application process into any undergraduate, postgraduate or professional degree. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Many US universities require that non-native English speakers take the TOEFL as part of the application process into any undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional degree. Non-native English speakers who have completed a number of years in the British education system may be exempt from taking the TOEFL, but will need confirmation from each US university.

Professional Licensure Exams

Commission Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS)
Registered general nurses who were educated outside the US will usually have to take the CGFNS exam as part of the licensing requirements to work as a registered nurse in the US.

Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (USMLE)
Medical doctors (or medical students) who were educated outside the US will have to take the USMLE exam as part of the licensing requirements to conduct their medical residency or fellowship in the US.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Under the CGFNS VisaScreen Program, IELTS is required for internationally-educated healthcare professionals including registered nurses educated in countries not designated as 'English exempt' as proof of English language proficiency.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
The TOEFL is required of all medical doctors/students who were educated outside the US. It is also required of all registered general nurses who were educated outside of English-speaking countries.
