The following organisations offer awards for postgraduate study and research in the US. Eligibility: Women who are not US citizens or residents and who have earned the equivalent of a US Bachelor’s Degree by September 1st, 2005. International Fellowships support women for one year of postgraduate study at a US accredited institution. Selection criteria include an outstanding academic record, professional potential, and the potential of the field of study to improve the lives of women and girls in the country of origin. 2006/2007 awards -Master's/ Professional Scholarship $18,000, Doctorate Fellowship - $20,000 and Postdoctoral Fellowship $30,000.

Eligibility: Awards provide assistance for short term visits to the US during the 2004 academic year to individuals who need to travel to conduct research or read papers at conferences on American Studies topics. Scholars from the UK, persons normally resident in the UK or scholars currently working at or registered as postgraduate students at UK universities are eligible. Preference is given to those who have had no previous opportunities for research-related visits to the US, and to young scholars including postgraduate students. Each award is £500 maximum.

Eligibility: Open to UK passport holders. Must be a graduate of a British university within the last five years and have applied for postgraduate study in the US or Canada. a number of scholarships are awarded each year from a fund of $40,000 allocated for the BEST Scholarships. The individual amounts vary but a typical award is in the region of approximately $5,000.

Deadline: The application package, eight (8) copies of which must be submitted to the Head of the applicant’s University or University College. The Head of the applicant’s University or University College shall transmit completed application packages to the Secretary of the Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships in London not later than 27th October 2006.
Eligibility: Open to British citizens normally resident and educated in the UK. Applicants must have graduated no earlier than the spring of 2005 or will graduate before September 2007. Awards are offered each year to British students for postgraduate study at Harvard University. Fellowships are normally tenable for one year. Further information can be obtained from universities or from the Fellowship office in London.

Eligibility: Applicant must be UK citizens; have, or expect to have, at least 2:1 honours for first degree from a UK university and be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities. Approximately 12 traditional awards and up to 3 MBA awards covering tuition fees and maintenance for the first academic year at any accredited US institution. A Film award and Journalism award are also available. Scholars must return to the UK for at least two years upon completion of the programme. Eligibility: Must be 24 or over on 1 September 2006. Must be British, a Commonwealth citizen, Irish, Israeli or an EU citizen who has been resident in the UK for at least three years, and currently living in the UK. Awards may be held for up to three years. Annual maximum is £10,000 but NOTE that average TOTAL award is about £6,500. Between 40 - 50 awards are made annually.

Deadline: Take your application to the Head of your College, the Scholarship Office or Vice-Chancellor's Office of your university by the first closing date (the third Friday in October). A letter of support should be added by your University or College Head and then all the applications from your University or College will be forwarded together to the Kennedy Trust by the second closing date (usually the first Friday in November).
Eligibility: Open to British citizens normally resident and educated in the UK. Applicants must be about to graduate or be a recent graduate of a UK university. Kennedy Scholarships, part of the British National Memorial to President Kennedy, are offered annually to approximately 12 British students for postgraduate study in any discipline at Harvard or MIT. Eligibility: An applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study, working towards a graduate degree in the college or university of her choice in the United States or Canada. Eligibility form must be completed before application materials can be sent to applicants. The maximum scholarship awarded to a student is $6,000 annually. Recipients may re-apply and receive the scholarship for a maximum of two years. “Believing that education is fundamental to world peace and understanding, members of the P.E.O. Sisterhood provide grants-in-aid for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States or Canada.”

Eligibility: This fellowship of full tuition and fees for the two years of the full time MBA program at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia is awarded to worthy admitted candidates who are citizens of the United Kingdom, including England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, and the Republic of Ireland. The fellowship recipient will demonstrate high leadership and academic qualities and show a seriousness of purpose to serve his/her home country in the public or private sector. Citizens of Australia, Canada, and New Zealand may also be considered for the award.
No additional essays are normally required to be considered for the award, unless otherwise requested by the scholarship committee.

Eligibility: "For the 2007/08 awards, applicants must be first graduates (2006) of a Scottish university or of Oxford or Cambridge, or undergraduates who hope to complete a first degree before September 2007 from the aforementioned universities. Candidates are required to have a Scottish background. The awards are to support advanced study exchanges between the USA and Scotland by individuals with a Scottish background. The scholarship will be tenable from September 2007 to May 2008 at a university within a radius of 250 miles from New York City, USA." There are two awards at US$15,000 (subject to change).

Unconfirmed Eligibility: The Elizabeth Tuckerman Scholarship Foundation awards annual educational grants for financial assistance to persons domiciled in Wales who have graduated from a college or university located in the United Kingdom of Great Britain or in the United States of America, and who desire to obtain and further their postgraduate education at a college or university located in the United States. Each award will normally provide for tuition, books and supplies, living expenses and transportation from the United Kingdom to the United States.

Eligibility: Applications from any country are welcome. Men and women with outstanding capabilities and experience from a wide variety of backgrounds (including government, the corporate world, and the professions, as well as academia) are eligible for appointment. For academic participants, eligibility is limited to postdoctoral level.
How Much: The Center awards approximately 20-25 residential fellowships. The Center tries to ensure that the stipend provided is approximately a Fellow's regular salary. Stipends provided in recent years have ranged from $26,200 to $85,000 (the maximum possible in 2006-2007).
