Funding for Undergraduate Study
in the US

Funding for international students to pursue undergraduate study in the US is, unfortunately, very limited. 80% of international students studying for their first degrees in the US are funded by their families. Whilst aid is available from US universities for international students, you should note that full funding is rare unless you have academic, athletic or artistic talent.

The US Educational Advisory Service offers resources to help you find funding for your undergraduate studies in the US including:

EAS Guide to Undergraduate Study in the US
You should read this first if you have not already done so. The EAS Guide has a section which explains more about financial aid for undergraduate degrees in the US.

Sports Scholarships
Talented student athletes may be able to win a sports scholarship at a US university, which may help to reduce the total degree costs.

Loan Programmes for Study in the US
A listing of loans available for non-US citizens who wish to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level in the US.

Web Links for Financial Aid Information
A list of other websites that can offer information about financial aid for US study.

Off-line Resources for Funding
The US Educational Advisory Service's Reference Library contains a few funding directories listing awards for non-US citizens who wish to study at undergraduate level in the US. Please note that the majority of these awards will be tied to specific US universities, US states or other criteria such as your nationality. The Library also has The College Board 's International Student Handbook, which lists all US universities and whether or not they offer financial aid for non-US citizens. You are welcome to consult these materials any time during our opening hours.
