Fulbright University of Ulster Fellowship in Policy Studies

Award Category: Lecturing/Research

Grant Activity
: This award provides for an US academic to lecture and conduct research for a period of three months at the University's new School of Policy Studies. The Fellow will teach one or more of the following subjects (undergraduate, graduate and doctorate level): Comparative Public Administration, Public Management, Social Policy. Evidence of teaching experience should be included in the application. Preference will be given to applications which include proposals for outreach or community involvement.

The School has access to a limited research strategy budget and some financial support may be available to help with the generation of research material and/or its dissemination. In terms of the latter, the scholar would be expected to give a seminar on their research activity during their tenure at the university.

Opportunities may also arise, should the scholar be interested, to engage in continual professional development work with senior public sector officials on cross-border (Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland) short courses. These will explore public administration and management issues within the two jurisdictions and, more generally, in the context of the European Union. INCORE – the Initiative on Conflict Resolution and Ethnicity is also located within the School. INCORE is a joint initiative of the United Nations University and the University of Ulster. It addresses the management and resolution of ethno-political conflicts through a combination of research, policy and internet work and has an international reputation in this area. It attracts visiting scholars from around the world.
