Fulbright Cardiff University Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Award Category: Research

Grant Activity: Two awards are offered to candidates wishing to develop their international reputation in any field relevant to Cardiff University. Fellows will be expected to develop a long-term link between their home institution and Cardiff University. It is expected that Fellows will undertake a small amount of teaching although these are predominantly research fellowships. Applicants should identify with whom they wish to work and outline the research project they wish to pursue in their applications. Preference will be given to applications which contain an element of outreach or involvement in the local community.

Applications are invited from scholars whose research interests are complimentary to those of researchers working in any of (or a combination of) Cardiff’s research-active departments:

Architecture; Biosciences; Business (includes Economics); Chemistry; City and Regional Planning; Computer Sciences; Earth Sciences; Engineering; English; Communication and Philosophy; European Studies (includes Politics); History and Archaeology; Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies; Law School; Mathematics; Music; Optometry and Vision Sciences; Pharmacy; Physics and Astronomy; Psychology, Religious and Theological Studies; Social Sciences (includes Education), and Welsh.

Stipend: £15,000 for 12 months, prorated for shorter periods, with a minimum grant for four months. Candidates usually arrange to receive sabbatical pay while away to meet any additional expenses.

Restrictions: Those who hold dual US/UK citizenship are ineligible. Once the award period is confirmed, no extensions or alterations to it may be made. Those who have recently spent a considerable time in the UK will take lower priority.

Dependants: The Commission cannot offer maintenance for dependants. Candidates must ensure they have sufficient funds to support accompanying family members during their stay.
Accommodation: The Commission is unable to provide accommodation. Candidates should contact Cardiff University for local housing assistance once they have been accepted. General information and guidelines will be offered to all chosen grantees.
