& Fellows Awards

The Fulbright Scholars and Fellows Awards allow post-doctoral
lecturers and academics, and professionals in a variety
of fields, to spend a period of time researching in
the US. In making these awards the Fulbright Commission
is looking for potential leaders in their chosen fields,
and those who will prove excellent ambassadors for
both the UK and the US-UK Fulbright Commission.
Fulbright-Robertson
Visiting Scholar in British History
One award of $47,500 for a post-doctoral lecturer
in Modern British History to spend 10 months at Westminster
College in Missouri.
Fulbright
Police Research Fellowships
Two awards for serving UK police officers or civilian
staff to spend between three and six months in the
US developing their professional expertise through
experience of American policing. Awards are for £7,500.
Fulbright-AstraZeneca
Research Scholarship
One award of £17,500, plus round-trip travel,
for a postdoctoral scientist to research cell biology,
molecular biology or bio-informatics in the US. Applicants
should enclose a letter of invitation from their host
institution with their application form.

Distinguished Scholar Awards
Approximately two awards of up to £15,000 each
are offered to post-doctoral academics or working
professionals, such as artists, musicians, museum
personnel, lawyers etc., to facilitate research and/or
lecturing for a minimum of three months. Applicants
should enclose a letter of invitation from their host
institution with their application form.
Fulbright
Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) Fellowships
Awards of $25,000 (covering travel, accommodation,
general living costs and associated research fees)
are offered to senior civil servants in Northern Ireland
to pursue research for between three and six months,
affiliated with a relevant US institution. Applications
are made via the Dept of Finance and Personnel, Northern
Ireland.
Fulbright
Interfaith Community Action Programme
Advocates of interreligious dialogue (religious leaders,
scholars of religion, NGO and/or community leaders
representing diverse religions) who are actively engaged
in interfaith cooperation and outreach programmes
in their home countries will be brought together as
Fulbright Interfaith Scholars for a semester-long
programme (mid-Sept to mid-Dec) that will include
discussions, collaborative learning, and active participation
in interfaith community programs in the U.S. Participants
receive a stipend, several allowances, airfare, accommodation,
visa processing and health insurance.

Eligibility Criteria
Fulbright
awards are offered to UK citizens (regardless of where
they currently reside) only. Non-UK citizens are required
to apply through the Commission
in their country of citizenship. Dual UK citizens
must apply in the country in which they currently
reside; if not resident in either country then applications
must be made through the Commission in the country
in which they have resided the longest period of time.
EU
nationals currently resident in the UK who began their
applications prior to 12 March 2008 may submit finalised
applications and will still be considered. From 12
March 2008 all non-UK citizens are required to apply
through the country in which they hold citizenship.
