Fulbright-AstraZeneca
Research Fellowship
The
Fulbright Commission is pleased to offer an award
in conjunction with AstraZeneca Plc for a post-doctoral
scientist to conduct research at a leading research
institute in the United States on an aspect of Chemistry,
Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Bio-informatics.
The award is for a minimum of 10 months and may be
taken up any time between September 2008 and April
2009.
Deadline
The application deadline for the Fulbright-AstraZeneca
Research Fellowship for 2008-2009 has now passed.
Please check back in May for announcement of the 2009-2010
competition.

Terms
•
Candidates must be UK citizens. US
nationals, those with dual US-UK citizenship and those
resident in the US may not apply.
•
Candidates should note that any academic fees will
be their responsibility.
•
Applications should include a letter of invitation
from their host institution in the US.
•
Candidates should have/expect to have a PhD in a relevant
area before departure to the US.
•
Candidates will normally be expected to seek a career
in industry on their return.
•
Interviews will be held in London in April 2008.
Conditions
The successful applicant will be issued with a J-1
visa which requires the holder to return to the UK
for a minimum of two years on completion of the fellowship
before applying for work or residence visas. (Tourist
trips are not affected).
The award is offered conditional upon the approval
of the J William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board
(FSB) in the United States.
A
full report will be required at the end of the fellowship.
Three years must elapse from the date of return from
the US before an applicant may be considered eligible
for another Fulbright grant.
The
Fulbright Commission is unable to comment on the reason
for unsuccessful applications.
