
Michael (Mick) Cory has worked in Africa, the Middle East as well as the UK. He currently leads the organisational change programme at the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure in Northern Ireland, and is Northern Ireland lead on the 2012 Olympic Games. He recently headed the team which organised Northern Ireland’s participation in the Smithsonian Institution’s prestigious Folklife Festival (2007); and until 2005 he was Chief Executive of Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland, the culmination of a professional career of over 27 years in the surveying, mapping and GIS business. His Fulbright study looked into the challenges faced by organisations with public sector ethos and culture where some form of commercial operation has been introduced.
