
Gemma Veitch received an MSci in Chemistry from Imperial College, London. After this she moved to the University of Cambridge to undertake her PhD research in organic chemistry where she worked on the synthesis of a naturally occurring insect repellent called azadirachtin. With her Fulbright award she carried out postdoctoral studies at Harvard University aimed at developing a new and useful method to allow rapid access to steroids. Following this, she hopes to begin her career within a global pharmaceutical company.
