Fulbright Project: Summer Institute for Outstanding European Students

Cheyann was born in Burnley and grew up in the town of Colne, where she attended Park High School. There she was involved in many different things including presenting the school's radio station (broadcast locally), reviewing/debating for the Lancashire Children's Book of the Year Award and taking part in three annual school plays.

'My summer with Fulbright was challenging, exciting, eye-opening and inspiring, and I will always be grateful to Fulbright for offering me that opportunity to develop both as an academic and as a person.'

Cheyann is currently working  towards a Psychology BSc at the University of York, Yorkshire, after spending a summer with the Fulbright Summer Institute for Outstanding European Students. In her spare time she dances, participates in psychological experiments, visits art galleries, goes to see live bands, dabbles in the university radio/television stations, volunteers and does a bit of drama.

'Our trip ended in Washington, and I spent a lot of my night there at  the Lincoln Memorial.  I remember sitting on the huge white steps in the dark, gazing out at the glowing Washington Monument and reflecting upon what an incredible experience I had had' - Cheyann on her most memorable moment from the Summer Institute
