Fulbright Project: Summer Institute for Outstanding European Students

Charlotte Corner is currently studying BA (Hons) Theatre Practice Performance Art at The Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. She has a keen interest in the experiencing different communities and is exploring this through the means of performance, having facilitated workshops for youth theatres and schools throughout the U.K. As a member of her Student Union, as the Welfare officer, she is regularly engaged with the politics of her own community within Central. Currently Charlotte is the Head of Marketing for The Accidental Festival 2009, a student led festival of performance, at The Roundhouse, London. The festival is keen to promote networking opportunities for the local community and people involved in the arts.

'Our group had become so close, we had learnt so much and it was that moment that I knew the Summer Institute had been truly life changing.'

Her passion for people and performativity of the world around her is the reason she applied for Fulbright’s Summer Institute Outstanding European Student. By experiencing the America Charlotte hopes to widen her knowledge of cultures, making her more informed about other communities. With a wish to become a future leader, Charlotte’s dream is to then study further in the United States, embracing the culture, communities and learning from the astonishing history of leaders which have made the USA what it is today.

'This programme has really helped me develop confidence to discover cultural exchanges and has taught me so much about America,  now a place where I'd like to further my academic career.'
