What is the typical Fulbright scholar like? The short answer is that there is no typical Fulbright scholar. Our awardees come from a variety of universities, towns and cities from across the US and UK. They represent a diverse range of academic fields, professions and personal backgrounds. Some study during their Fulbright year. Others do research, lecture or pursue professional development.
So what links this diverse group of scholars and participants? It's their commitment to the Fulbright vision of promoting peace and cultural understanding between the US and UK. It's their demonstrated achievements, leadership and initiative both in and outside of the classroom. It's their curiosity to learn about other cultures and desire to further the "special relationship". But more importantly, it's their drive to serve as good ambassadors while overseas and further the Fulbright mission in their communities when they return.
